The Mono County Health Department will have their flu vaccine clinic at the Walker Senior Center, noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1. Please come and take advantage of this service and the very reasonable cost for it. Ages 19-64 will cost $7.50, with children under 16 years $2. Medicare Part B is free with your card.
Library change on Tuesdays
Librarian Olga Gilbert has advised that the school has made one change in the library's hours. Tuesdays they will be open from 9-11:45 a.m. and 12:30-1:45 p.m., with evening hours from 4-7 p.m.
There will be a special story hour for all children on Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. The regular story hours take place on Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. This is a great experience for your children, so try to get them to it.
Lions barbecue
The 44th annual Deer Hunters Barbecue is 5-8 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Walker Community Center. The food and company are great, so please be there and have fun with your friends, old and new.
School sports
The middle school's flag football team had a week off, so they won't play again until Saturday. We'll hope for them to better their very good record of 3-1 when they play in Bridgeport against Lee Vining and Benton.
Our high school football team lost their game last Friday night in Carlin and will play Eureka at Coleville this Saturday at 1 p.m. We wish them a lot of luck.
I couldn't find a score on the girls' volleyball game last week, but they got off to a good start for their season, so we'll hope they won last Thursday, too.
This and that
My husband Mike's birthday is Thursday (I can't say how old he'll be), and we are enjoying family visits. As I write this on Sunday my mother-in-law and her beagle are visiting, with my stepson coming Monday and sister-in-law and her husband arriving Wednesday. Since all of my in-laws are great, we will have a wonderful visit and a fun birthday celebration. It's work to get prepared for the company, but well worth it when they are the visitors.
