Seattle musician and recording artist John Nilsen performs, 3 p.m. Saturday, at Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. No admission, but a freewill offered is requested.

Nilsen sings, plays piano and acoustic guitar in original compositions combining of folk, jazz, classical and rock. He has appeared with Jose Feliciano, Jesse Colin Young, Kenny G, Alex De Grassi and David Foster.

Nilsen's 16th CD, "John Nilsen and Swimfish," is a collection of original songs of acoustic guitar and vocal harmonies with folk-rock appeal.

"As a performer, I like exploring beyond the boundaries of my recorded songs," said Nilsen. "It gives me the chance to offer something special, spontaneous and personal to my audience. The entire performance hinges on the connection not only between the players, but with the audience as well."
