About 150 members of the Washoe Tribe gathered at the Carson Valley Inn on Wednesday night to learn about the plan the Bureau of Indian Affairs is working on to determine the highest and best use of allotment parcels granted to individual families. While there are buildable parcels, a contractor hired by the bureau said there are some longterm water issues on parcels along Highway 395.

The smoke that filled the Valley on Wednesday was from a controlled burn being conducted near Homewood. There is still a forest fire burning east of Yosemite, the 9,406-acre Tehipite fire isn't expected to be contained until mid-October. That may be contributing slightly to the smoke.

The weather today is forecast to be sunny and clear with a high temperature of 83 degrees. That picture will remain pretty much the same through next week.
