Tonight's season opener between the Reno Aces and the Salt Lake Bees has been postponed. The decision comes following the early-morning death of Nick Adenhart, who pitched for the Bees last season and was on the active roster for the Bees parent club, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Just hours after throwing six shutout innings for the Angels on Wednesday, Adenhart was a passenger in a car that was struck by a motorist who ran a red light. Adenhart and two other passengers in the car died.

The Angels have also postponed their Thursday night game against the Oakland A's.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Adenhart family, Angels organization and the many people who touched his life and career," said Arizona Diamondbacks Director of Player Development A.J. Hinch. "We offer our support today and during the many difficult days ahead."

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday, May 30 when the Aces make a return trip to Salt Lake City.

The remainder of the Aces-Bees series will be played as scheduled, beginning Friday night. First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m. PT and can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 1450.
