A day after handing Reno its first loss of the season, the Douglas High baseball team handed the Huskies one of their worst losses in over a year.
Douglas pounded out 11 hits on its way to a 12-2 win in Reno Thursday afternoon, which gave the Tigers a 2-1 edge in the three-game series.
Junior Michael Whalin took the win on the mound, scattering six hits, walking two and striking out five.
Senior Tyler May went 3-for-3 with a home run and Kameron Van Winkle led the Tigers with three RBIs. Tanner Thomas drove in a pair of runs and Shane Fencl, Brett Anderson, Tim Rudnick and Tyler Hoelzen each had an RBI.
Reno pitcher Zach Sanford took his first loss of the year after Douglas exploded for seven runs in the first inning.
