The R-C Morning Report

If you're commute takes you through Carson City, there was an accident at Carson and Stewart streets at 5:52 a.m. still showing up on the NHP Web site. It's a property damage accident, but you never know what it could entail.

There're a few road controls in the Sierra, primarily over Highway 88, where chains or four-wheel drive are required to get over the pass and on Highway 28 between Spooner and Incline Village.

Rumor has it that closing of the Carson Times will include the layoff of two longtime Northern Nevada journalists, editor Sandi Hoover and photographer Lisa Tolda. Sandi worked at The Record-Courier writing the Ranchos community column for Joyce before becoming a staff writer for the paper. She moved to the Appeal when The R-C was purchased and then to the Gazette when we took over the Appeal. I was sort of following her career path until I came back to The R-C. I first met Lisa at a forest fire on my first week on the job at The R-C in August 1989. She's a heck of a shooter. My best wishes to both.

It's a gloomy Good Friday out there today. The snow level's at 5,500 feet, with a mix of snow and rain above 5,000 feet. Up top accumulations could hit an inch. Roads could be slick this morning, so be careful. Most of the rain will fall north of Carson, according to the Weather Service.
