A Gardnerville man accused of selling marijuana and released on his own recognizance was taken back into custody on Wednesday because he allegedly threatened a witness.
Russell Tillack, 51, was originally arrested on Tuesday by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Street Enforcement Team, working in conjunction with the Tri-Net Task Force on a warrant for selling about 237 grams of marijuana.
Tillack was arrested during a traffic stop several blocks from his home, according to Sgt. Jim Halsey of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Simultaneous with Tillack's arrest, a search warrant was executed at his home. The arrest and search warrant were the culmination of a month long investigation into Tillack's marijuana distribution.
Tillack was arrested per an arrest warrant charging him with four counts of sales of a controlled substance. Tillack was in possession of marijuana and a large sum of cash at the time of his arrest.
The search of Tillack's home netted packaging materials, scales and other paraphernalia associated with the sales of marijuana.
Tillack was arrested, but later released from jail on Wednesday.
After he was released, he allegedly went to the home of a witness and said he'd put the word out on him. He suggested the man lie in court.
Based on the circumstances of the threats, investigators obtained a separate arrest warrant for Tillack, charging him with felony intimidating a witness. Tillack was arrested later that same day at his home on Carbernet Court. Tillack was smoking marijuana at the time of his second arrest.
Tillack is currently being held in the Minden Jail on charges of sales of a controlled substance and intimidating a witness.
His bail is set at $75,000 cash only.
