Å report that two skiers went through the ice on Red Lakes turned out to be mistaken, according to broadcast reports just after noon on Saturday.
The reporting parties said the skiers appeared to go through the ice. Alpine County rescuers responded to Red Lakes with several units and a helicopter.
Searchers began to question the report when they couldn't find any holes in the ice and determined it was 4-feet thick. Searchers also responded to Caples Lake in case the report had the wrong location.
Searchers at Red Lake did come across two skiers who said they laid down on the lake.
