Douglas County School District is offering a free Child Find Screening 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Minden Elementary School for parents who suspect their 3-5 -year-old child may have problems with speech, language, cognitive, social, or emotional skills and/or fine or gross motor delays.

The school is located at 1170 Baler St., Minden.

This is an opportunity for parents and their children to meet with school district staff and discuss concerns about early childhood development.

If a child is suspected of having a developmental delay, the child will then be recommended for further free-of-charge evaluations conducted by the school district and may be eligible for school services.

School District Child Find Coordinator Mary Jo Hollis advised that those who can't attend the screening may contact the Douglas County School District Special Services office at any time to request the evaluation process.

If you have any questions about Child Find or other early childhood services, contact Douglas County School District Special Services at 265-5262.
