U.S. really is a Christian nation

On April 6 President Obama stated, "...we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation..." This is an outline of our national spiritual heritage:

In 1776, the Declaration of Independence declared, "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among those are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." Our freedoms come not from man, nor government, but from God. President John Adams stated, "...the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer's mission upon earth...it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity."

In 1799, Samuel Chase, U.S. Supreme Court Justice and Founding Father, gave the court's opinion in Runkel v. Winemiller stating, "By our form of government, the Christian religion is the established religion..."

Our second President, John Adams, "The highest story of the American Revolution is this: it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity."

In 1854, the U.S. Congress passed a House resolution stating, "The great vital and conservative element in our system is the belief of our people in the pure doctrines and divine truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ."

In 1892, Supreme Court Justice David Brewer gave the court's opinion in Church of the Holy Trinity v. United States declaring, "...These, and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation." Justice Brewer also stated, "The American nation from its first settlement at Jamestown to this hour is based upon and permeated by the principles of the Bible."

Our 30th President, Calvin Coolidge, stated, "The foundation of our society and our government rest so much on the teachings of the Bible that it would be difficult to support them if faith in these teachings would cease to be practically universal in our country."

Our 32nd President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, stated, "We cannot read the history of our rise and development as a nation, without reckoning with the place the Bible has occupied in shaping the advances of the Republic..."

Our 34th President, Dwight D. Eisenhower, said, "The real fire within the builders of America was faith " faith in a Provident God whose hand supported and guided them; faith in themselves as the children of God..."

Our 40th President, Ronald Reagan, stated, "Without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."

Yet our 44th President, Barack Obama, stated that, "we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation..." misrepresenting our history and the understanding of this nation. The United States is at a crossroads and the path we choose, through action or inaction, will chart our future. You have a choice, a voice and a vote that can make a difference. Our country has strayed; it's time to return to our roots.
