The Douglas High baseball team picked up an important Sierra League win Thursday afternoon, knocking off Manogue 8-3 in Reno.

Tyler May went the distance on the mound to pick up his sixth win for Douglas of the season.

"It was a good win," Douglas coach John Glover said. "They are a great ball club with some real dangerous hitters. It was important for us to get that Thursday win too because outside of the Fallon series, we haven't been able to do that in league play so far.

"It was just a case of Tyler pitching a great game and our ability to build a lead early there. The kids played some great defense and we had a lot of things working well today."

The Tigers will next turn their attention to the doubleheader against the Miners in Minden Saturday.

"It's what we keep saying every week, it is so important to win the series," Glover said. "We can't just rest on what we did today."
