Soroptimist International of Carson Valley seeks candidates for their next long-term community project. The club is nearing completion of their current project to raise money for the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center and is looking to next project.
Nonprofit organizations with a one-time need for funding and with a focus on assisting women and children, may be able to receive funding. Submit a solicitation letter that includes a description of the organization, project explanation with a 2010-15 time frame and estimated cost of the project. Letters should be received by May 8.
The Soroptimist club will consider all applications that support the club's mission of helping women and children. A more formal application process will take place at the end of the year and final candidates will be asked to submit a more comprehensive project plan.
Among the projects the Soroptimists helped fund since the club was chartered in 1973 are the founding of Abbey Crossing, the start-up of the Douglas County Senior Center and a children's playground at Lampe Park.
