The Business Showcase is 3-7 p.m. today at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Hosted by the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Authority, the ninth edition of the showcase features products and services from 80 businesses. Admission is free, and there's lots of swag to be had. Check at www.carsonvalleynv.org for more info.
About the same time the showcase opens, so do the first salvoes of this incoming storm. Expect winds 20-30 mph this afternoon, with higher gusts 45-55 mph or better in the Valley. Any soil dried out from the last few days of very warm weather will be in the air. The National Weather Service wind advisor expires Friday morning.
I'm not sure what sort of moisture we'll wring out of this storm, but it's definitely going to be much cooler. The snow level is predicted to drop to 5,300 feet on Friday under mostly cloudy skies. If there's any moisture, we'll have scattered rain and snow showers in the Valley on Friday night.
