Hundreds filled the high school commons last Friday to watch 13 seniors strut their stuff for the third annual Mr. DHS competition.
"It went really well," said Douglas leadership teacher Karen Lamb. "We raised nearly $1,500 for Grad Night."
The students competed in four categories: talent, swimsuit, pick-up line, and formal wear with an on-stage question.
"The talent ranged from workout routines, singing, guitar, DJ sets and dancing," Lamb said.
However, only one Mr. DHS could be named, and this year, the judges chose senior James Leonard, who performed various sound effects.
"I have to say it was nights like Friday that remind me how wonderful the students at this school really are," Lamb said. "They continually amaze me with how talented, charismatic, funny and courageous they are."
Other contestants were Cameron Argon, Bradley Boyd, Tim Doran, Ryan Dykes, Davey Fisher, Lee Frediani, Brad Gonzales, Jake Lopes, Rex McKeon, Joe Ramos, Parker Robertson and Kiel Steffey.
The event was organized by the high school leadership class.
"This was also the last big event that leadership put on here at DHS, and they did not disappoint," Lamb said. "They have spent hundreds of hours with homecoming, dances, the talent show, community service and everything in between. I am blessed to work with such an amazing group of people who work tirelessly to make their school a better place."
Lamb also thanked Tux Town, J.T. Basque Bar & Dining Room and A Sign Shop for their support.
