Last week I received a great release from the Mono County Sheriff Department that needs to be shared. They want to remind us all that we need to protect our property in case of fire or burglary. Items such as firearms, power tools, televisions, etc., have serial numbers, which should be recorded and stored in a secure location, such as a safe. Other valuable objects, such as hand tools and items without serial numbers, can be engraved with a driver's license number (never use your social security number). They also recommend video taping your entire home in case it could be needed by law enforcement or for insurance purposes. Following this procedure could really help you in case of burglary of your home. Good advice.
Fishing season arrived
Last Saturday, opening day of fishing season on the West Walker River started out a little nippy, to say the least. It was downright cold, and the fishing was somewhat slowed by that. There were, however, some nice fish caught, including one my husband landed. The next morning was better weatherwise, but I haven't yet had any reports on the anglers' success. We'll hope that everyone who went out to try their luck had a good time.
Boating safety
I have also had a note from Mono County, reminding us all to be very safety-conscious when boating. Be sure to carry approved safety equipment, know the rules and follow courtesy to others on the water. Also, they want to remind you to take all bottles, cans, and trash back with you to be recycled. Please enjoy safe boating.
Local Bible study for children
At the Coleville Marine Housing, the AWANA Club sponsors great times for two age groups of children up to sixth-graders. They get to participate in fun activities as well as learning about the Bible. There are competitions and just a great experience for the kids. If you are interested in getting details about what is offered, you can call Chuck Evans at (530) 495-2473 or Sharon Cook at (530) 495-1095.
