A memorial at Eastside Memorial Park will being held at a later date for 36-year Gardnerville resident Victor Emmanuel Bergstrom, who died April 22, 2009 in Carson City.

Born in Oakland, Calif., in 1931, to Victor Bergstrom Sr. and Rose Bergstrom, he moved to Stateline in 1961. While living in the Kingsbury Grade area for 13 years, he worked for United Groceries in delivery and supply of non-food items.

He moved to Gardnerville in 1973, where he resided until his death.

He served on the Gardnerville Town Board for 10 years, and worked for the U.S. Forest Service Carson Ranger District, assisting in campground and fuelwood administration.

He opened and operated Little Antelope Pack Station from 1980 to 2004, where he worked as a professional guide and outfitter, providing horse and mule pack trips into the Carson Iceberg Wilderness.

He loved to travel through his life, including a trip to Central America with his two sons, where they explored Mayan ruins.

Mr. Bergstrom was preceded in death by wife Heidi and his parents.

He is survived by sons Ray (Cindy) and Mark (Elizabeth); granddaughters Chelsea, Jessica and Nicole; and grandson Christopher.
