Baseball: Aces return home Thursday

RENO, Nev. " With the inaugural homestand now in the books, the Reno Aces return to Aces Ballpark on Thursday night for another action-packed four-game series at Aces Ballpark.


The Aces will take on the Portland Beavers, Triple-A Affiliate of the San Diego Padres, this week looking to gain ground in the Pacific Coast League's Pacific South Division.


The fun starts on Thursday with another Coors Light Thursday Night. Beer specials are available from the time gates open until the start of the third inning. Rock 104.5 will be on-hand doing a live remote from the Coors Light Party Zone in left field. Thursday's theme is "Halfway to Halloween," where any fans 21 and older are encouraged to participate in a Halloween costume contest. The winner will be awarded the chance to throw out the first pitch and the use of a dugout suite at an upcoming Aces game. Thursday's opener will begin at 6:05 p.m. PT.


Friday is an Aces Fireworks Friday, presented by KOLO 8. Stick around for a spectacular fireworks show after the game. First pitch is again set for 6:05 p.m. PT.


The final two games of the series will be highlighted by Youth Baseball Weekend. Little Leaguers from around the area will participate in an on-field parade before each game.


Also on Fox 11 Family Sunday, the Spitball Gang will be on-hand to entertain the Aces faithful. Additionally, Fox 11 will bring along the Simpsons characters for the first of two appearances at Aces Ballpark.

Saturday and Sunday's games will begin at 1:05 p.m. PT.
