Heading into the final Sierra League tournament of the season, the Douglas High golf team is exactly where it needs to be in order to clinch a regional team berth.
The Tigers took fifth at Arrowcreek in Reno on Monday to maintain a three-point lead on Galena in the season standings.
To clinch a team berth at regionals, Douglas must simply finish ahead of Galena in the final league tournament.
Junior standout Thomas Wicker tied for first in the tournament with a 74, maintaining his overal season lead in the Sierra League Cup race with 488.5 points. He leads second-place Jonathan Singer of Carson by more than 100 points.
"Thomas is leading the league and has consistently been one of the best golfers in the North," Douglas coach Brent Eddy said. "He worst round of 2009 is a 78, so it shows you how good of a golfer he is becoming."
Senior Eric Guzman shot an 87, Cody Logan came in at 91, Logan McNeil had a 92 and Trevor Wentz carded a 98.
Manogue won the tournament as a team, shooting a 386, while Carson was second, Fallon was third and Galena was fourth.
