Smoke filling Carson Valley is coming from the 4,000 acre Knight fire just west of Strawberry along the middle fork of the Stanislaus River. The fire started July 26 and is now 30 percent contained. Saturday's wind brought the smoke into the Valley.
Heavy smoke from the fire is expected to continue through the week. Prevailing winds will determine how much of that comes into Carson Valley.
More than 1,300 firefighters are working on the blaze.
