Highway 28 between Spooner Junction and Sand Harbor may reopen tonight, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
Spokesman Scott Magruder said the highway would definitely be open for the Tuesday morning commute.
"Granite really got after it," Magruder said. "We're confident it will open this evening."
The highway was closed when a sewer line burst and washed out a 10-20-foot section of the highway near the entrance to Skunk Harbor, about two miles south of Sand Harbor.
Magruder said that stretch of Highway 28 is brand new.
