"Much Ado About Nothing" would hardly describe the washout of Highway 28 by a broken sewer line on Saturday, but Valley residents who want to see the play Tuesday night in Sand Harbor would do well to leave early in case the road isn't ready.
Estimates are that Highway 28 between Spooner Junction and Sand Harbor will reopen Tuesday night.
Nevada Department of Transportation spokesman Scott Magruder said an Incline Village General Improvement District treated sewer line that broke on Saturday morning has been fixed.
"Now we're just rebuilding the roadbed," Magruder said.
The line brake washed out a 10-20-foot section of the highway near the entrance to Skunk Harbor, about two miles south of Sand Harbor.
Magruder said Shakespeare at Sand Harbor and Hot August Nights contribute roughly 6,000 vehicles a day to the main route between Carson Valley and Incline Village.
The state just finished working on Highway 28 and Magruder said the length of highway was brand new.
"There's no cost estimate yet, and we're not sure who's going to pay for it," he said. "That section of road just got done."
Granite Construction is making repairs.
Magruder said the washout didn't result in any vehicle accidents.
