Douglas High drug presentations next week

The fall sports teams at Douglas High School will be holding voluntary conditioning sessions throughout the summer.

Athletes need to have completed the school's clearance process in order to participate in the workouts.

The school will present a mandatory drug, alcohol and tobacco presentation for all new athletes on Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. All new athletes and a parent or guardian must attend the event.

A mandatory random drug testing presentation is the same night at 6:30 for all new and returning athletes. A parent or guardian of each athlete must be in attendance for this presentation as well.

The first official day of football practice is Aug. 13 and the first day of practice and tryouts for the remaining fall sports is Aug. 17.

BOYS' SOCCER

Preseason conditioning sessions are today and Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the high school.

The school's annual alumni game will be Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. and conditioning sessions will continue Aug. 11-14 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Big George Sports Complex on the south end of the high school.

Tryouts begin Aug. 17 and continue Aug. 18 from 8 to 10 a.m. both days.

Regular practices start Aug. 19 from 3 to 5 p.m.

A coach has not yet been hired for the fall season.

GIRLS' GOLF

GIRLS' SOCCER

The team will have workouts on Mondays from 6 to 7:30 a.m. at locations to be announced and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Douglas High grass soccer fields. That schedule will run through Aug. 13.


GIRLS' TENNIS

The team will have voluntary workouts from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at the high school tennis courts.

Mandatory tryouts will be 8 to 10 a.m. on Aug. 17 and 18 at the high school. Players must attend both days of tryouts in order to make the team.

VOLLEYBALL

Two-a-day conditioning runs Aug. 10 through 14 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Douglas High track and from 5 to 7 p.m. in the gym.
