A 21-year-old woman who allegedly operated a marijuana grow operation from the home of an disabled man where she worked as caretaker was admitted Monday to Western Regional Drug Court.

Senior Judge Noel Manoukian, filling in for District Judge Michael Gibbons, allowed Meagan Harris to participate in the drug court program as an alternative to incarceration.

Prosecutor Karen Dustman said Harris was caring for the man at his residence where investigators found 29 marijuana plants in a makeshift greenhouse and 28 plants growing inside the house.

They also found drug paraphernalia and weapons, Dustman said.

"The quantity suggests it was not for personal consumption. The state believes we have a strong enough case to get her convicted," she said.

Lawyer Derrick Lopez said he believed it was in Harris' best interest to plead guilty to possession of a controlled substance for sale.
