EDITOR:
Jerry Dennis Sullivan of Minden wrote "Is he an alcoholic? No, just Irish," referring to Ted Kennedy in his letter published on July 31. Is Ted Kennedy an alcoholic? That's not for me to say. But I will say that I am surprised that someone whose name would indicate they are of Irish decent would make such a degrading statement regarding the Irish.
All of us who are Irish are not alcoholics nor do we all drink to excess as your comment would indicate. And for you to proliferate such backward thinking is shameful and offensive.
