Hailing in Gardnerville

Hail fell in Gardnerville for a few minutes around 12:30 p.m. Carson Valley is under a hazardous weather outlook as a low pressure system moves through Western Nevada today and Friday.

Stronger storms are capable of small hail, according to the National Weather Service. Below average temperatures are expected tonight with a freeze possible on Friday in some colder Sierra valleys. A lake effect wind advisory is in effect until 10 p.m.

Winds will increase from 10-20 mph to 30-35 mph on most area lakes today.

Cool temperatures will remain in the Valley through Satruday.

Backcountry hiker and campers in the Sierra should be prepared for freezing temperatures Thursday and Friday nights.
