A 20-year-old Indian Hills man who was found hiding in a bathtub wearing handcuffs several hours after escaping from deputies was sentenced Wednesday to six months in jail.
East Fork Justice Jim EnEarl told Jesse Brandon Madore he would send him to an in-patient treatment center.
Lawyer Kris Brown said Madore has hoping to be readmitted to Western Regional Drug Court.
Deputies handcuffed Madore on July 22 while investigating a domestic battery report.
While a deputy was looking at damage Madore allegedly caused at the Coloma Drive residence, the defendant ran through a side gate and climbed a ridge.
Deputies searched the area, but didn't find Madore until early July 23. He reportedly was sleeping in a bathtub in a Kings Lane residence that belonged to a friend of his mother.
He was charged with resisting a public officer.
He told EnEarl that he was distraught over the recent death of his brother, Christopher Medina, in a car accident.
Prosecutor Erik Levin asked that Madore's probation be revoked.
"The state's position is that he can't do it (drug court)," Levin said. "A bench warrant was issued prior to his brother's death. I don't think he has any hope of complying."
Madore said he took his sobriety seriously.
"What are you doing?" EnEarl asked. "You're 20 years old and you've got three different courts that want a piece of you. You took the death of your brother hard, but you don't get to lay off your conduct on that."
