Bail was set at $10,000 for an 18-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos man accused of taking cash, checks and receipts from an office where he worked as a laborer.

The alleged victim told Douglas County sheriff's investigators she noticed nearly $2,000 in cash missing in two envelopes in her office when she returned after a four-day vacation in July.

The suspect, Andrew Brandon DeWitt, reportedly admitted taking $100 in January and $500 from the two envelopes last month.

According to reports, deputies recovered evidence from his Gardnerville Ranchos home.

He was charged with burglary and is to appear Wednesday in East Fork Justice Court. Justice Pro Tem Paul Gilbert appointed lawyer Tod Young to represent him.
