Doris Iona Stagner

A memorial service is Aug. 17 in Santa Maria, Calif., for Doris Iona Stagner, 82, who died Aug. 7, 2009, in Gardnerville. Before Mrs. Stagner moved to Gardnerville 2 1/2 years ago, she was a resident of the Santa Maria, Calif., area for more than 50 years.

Mrs. Stagner was born March 20, 1927, in Hall County, Texas to L.E. and Nancy Lora Tyler. She was the youngest of seven children who all preceded her in death.

Mrs. Stagner married Benny Smith who died in 1971. In 1975 she married Walter Stagner who died in 2004.

She was retired from the Orcutt Union School District where she was cook. She was a member of the Valley Whirlers Square Dance Club for many years and also enjoyed golfing and sewing.

She is survived by sons Dennis Smith, Harvey Stagner and Derrel Stagner of Santa Maria; daughter Pat Sikes (Brad) of Gardnerville; grandchildren, Carolyn Cook, Beth Hubbard, Steven Smith, Sharon Smith and Aaron Sikes; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

The graveside service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Santa Maria Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1219 E. Oak Knoll Road, Orcutt, Calif.
