Ritger runner-up at Nevada Open

The NorCal-sanctioned Nevada State Open was recently held at the Lakeridge Tennis Club in Reno.


Amelia Ritger, 16, was seeded No. 4 in the girls 16 bracket and advanced to the finals before losing 6-3, 6-0 to a player from California.


Matt Johnson, 13, lost in the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket of the boys 14 division.

Kari TenBroeck, 14, was seeded second in the girls 14s and lost in the finals to the No. 1 seed from California 6-1, 6-2.


Mike Johnson, 11, exited the tournament in the second round of the main draw in the boys 12 division. His brother, Pat, 12, lost in the consolation semifinals.


In another close match, Reno's Mikael Tiilikainen overcame Sam Johnson, 9, in the

consolation quarterfinals of the boys 10 division, winning 7-6 (3), 6-3.


Madelyn Landerfelt, 10, played a round robin format in the girls 10s and looked much-improved, particularly against the No. 11 ranked player in NorCal.
