A 21-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos man was jailed Thursday on $15,000 bail, charged with selling heroin to young adults in Carson Valley.

Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Dan Britton said Secret Witness received a tip that Kevin David Oliver was selling the drug.

The sheriff's Street Enforcement Team contacted Oliver at his residence and he reportedly gave officers three balloons of heroin he had in his pocket.

During an interview at the Douglas County Jail, Oliver reportedly admitted he had used heroin that day and sold the drug on Wednesday.

He was jailed on charges of possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

"The sheriff's office continues to be very concerned about the use of heroin among young adults in our community," Britton said. "We began to see this trend a couple of years ago. Prior to that time, heroin was almost nonexistent in the Carson Valley."

Anyone with information about heroin distribution or other crimes is asked to call Secret Witness, 782-7463. Callers remain anonymous.
