For almost 90 years, September has meant a trip to Genoa for Candy Dance participants and fans.

From hotel-casinos to resorts to bed and breakfast inns there are nearly a 1,000 rooms and RV spaces available in the East Fork township for visitors who want to stay for the weekend.

Less than two miles from the center of Genoa, David Walley's Resort offers a variety of accommodation types, from hotel rooms to two-bedroom suites, and a spa built around its mineral hot springs.

The Carson Valley Inn recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and its 152 hotel rooms and 75 motor lodge rooms, along with 59 RV sites, make it the largest of the lodging options in Carson Valley.

Located overlooking Topaz Lake, the Topaz Lodge and Casino also combines 102 hotel rooms, and RV sites with dining and gaming.

The Best Western Minden Inn features 83 rooms and many restaurant and shopping options nearby. Just opened in the summer of 2009, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, also in Minden, offers 81 rooms and suites. Both properties feature amenities like Internet access and continental breakfast for their guests. In Topaz, the Best Western Topaz Lake Inn delivers 32 rooms with views of the lake.

Independent lodging properties offer convenience and their own styles to guests. The Historian Inn, right in the middle of Gardnerville, has 33 rooms with the feel of a historic property and the features modern travelers expect. Also in Gardnerville, the Westerner Motel, Sierra Motel and Village Motel offer motor lodge accommodations, many with kitchenettes; and the Holiday Lodge in Minden.

Bed and breakfast aficionados will find three choices in Carson Valley. In Genoa, the Wild Rose Inn and the Genoa House Inn put guests literally in the middle of Candy Dance activity. Both feature Victorian style and the level of hospitality that comes with the bed and breakfast experience. The Cottonwood Creek Ranch combines the feel of a bed & breakfast with a setting that includes 40 acres and a working horse boarding and training facility.

The Silver City RV Park Resort, at the north end of the Valley, delivers over 200 full hookup spaces and features like phone, cable TV and wireless service along with a general store and lots of activity options. At the Topaz Lake Park, campsites with basic hookups and tent sites are both available.
