A senior member of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration under the Bush Administration will speak at this year's 9/11 dinner hosted by the Sierra Nevada Republican Women in Genoa.
Former Assistant Administrator and Senior Spokesperson for Strategic Communications and Public Affairs at the U.S. Transportation Security Administration Ellen Howe is the Republican's guest speaker at the club's ninth annual dinner commemorating the attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
Howe served with the Transportation Security Administration from 2006 until January 2009.
Prior to joining TSA, Howe owned and managed a public affairs firm in the state of Washington for 11 years where she designed and implemented communications strategies for a wide-ranging clientele including alternative energy, developers, healthcare and a prominent member of Congress, according to Howe's biography posted on her Web site.
She has a bachelor's degree in journalism from The Ohio State University.
The ninth annual dinner will be held at Genoa Lakes Supper Club (Antoci's) in Genoa.
According to member Donna Baushke, a dinner happened to be scheduled for Sept. 12, 2001. When the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon occurred, none of the club's guest speakers could attend due to travel restrictions. Rather than cancel, the dinner was packed with people who gathered to share their feelings regarding the tragic events of the previous day.
The club has continued to hold the event each September.
The evening starts with a social and no-host bar at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The speaker will begin at 7:15 p.m.
Meal choices this year are petite prime rib of beef, served with rosemary au jus and creamed horseradish, garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables, salmon arlecchino, (grilled salmon served with mushrooms, tomatoes and artichoke hearts, served with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables), and chicken parmigiana, (served with penne pasta and vegetables). A vegetarian option (ravioli veneta) is also available. The cost is $38 per person.
