Support staff responds to school board

Douglas County School District office support staff would like to thank those board members who took the time to research and understand the concerns of the support staff regarding the superintendent. Expressing our opposition to the extension of the superintendent's contract was a difficult thing to do.

We put ourselves on the line, but feel it was the right thing to do out of concern for the students and staff of the Douglas County School District.

Our concerns have grown over the past three years and it was time for us to voice them. Unfortunately, by some we were labeled "disgruntled" and nothing could be further from the truth. We are dedicated employees who work together with camaraderie to put the best interest of the school district, first and foremost. We appreciate Sharla Hales insisting upon an improvement plan with a mentor for the superintendent. We will move forward in a professional manner, and hope for the best.
