Kool Valley Nites benefits skin cancer awareness

The Kool Valley Nites benefit for the Knights of Columbus Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation is 6 p.m. to midnight Sept. 19 at St. Gall Pastoral Community Center, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville.

The event features a '50s dance with live music by Macho Jonny, classic cars and food. Ticket price of $25 per person includes hamburger or hot dog, chili, fries, milk shake or soft drink. Bring your hot rod for display. No-host bar and cash prizes for best costumes and best dance couple.

Free oral cancer screenings and skin analysis screenings performed 4:30- 6 p.m. by Jeffrey Collins, DDS, of Carson Valley Dental Care and Dr. Martin Salm of Advanced Cosmetic Surgery & Dermatology.

Knights of Columbus and Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation presents their first Kool Valley Nites to raise funds for UV warning signals and shade structures at local schools and outdoor recreation areas. The groups have sponsored UV warning signals at the Town of Gardnerville maintenance yard and the Carson Valley Swim Center.
