Investigators with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Street Enforcement Team picked up two fugitives in Carson City on Monday in separate arrests.

Both men had active arrest warrants out of East Fork Justice Court.

At 11:15 a.m., investigators saw 28 year-old Santiago Alcarez Cossio Jr. in a vehicle on Fairview Drive.

Cossio was wanted in Douglas County for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of felony child abuse for a July 5 incident.

According to investigators, Cossio was arguing with his girlfriend at her Gardnerville Ranchos residence. He allegedly put a pistol to her head, then pistol-whipped her and her 2-year-old son.

Cossio fled the scene before deputies arrived and had been a fugitive until Monday.

Officers said due to Cossio's violent felony status, investigators stopped the vehicle and arrested him at gunpoint.

He was booked into the Carson City Sheriff's Office Jail on $100,000 bail before transfer to Douglas County.

At 7 p.m., investigators located 41-year-old Steven Jon Hipple, a resident of Johnson Lane, coming out of a court-ordered counseling session.

Hipple was wanted for one count of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of battery with a deadly weapon for an incident that occurred on July 3.

Hipple and his son reportedly were arguing with several other people over disputed property at the victim's home in the Johnson Lane area.

During the argument, Hipple allegedly hit one man with a sword causing a serious cut on the man's neck, and intentionally struck another man with his vehicle as he (Hipple) left the scene.

Hipple was arrested without incident and booked into Douglas County Jail on $10,000 bail.

Both are to appear in East Fork Justice Court on Wednesday.

Hipple is on federal probation for stealing quad-motorcycles from the U.S. Forest Service.
