LAS VEGAS - A judge has set an Oct. 12 trial date for Nevada Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki and a top aide on felony misappropriation of funds charges.

Krolicki said Thursday that Clark County District Court Judge Valerie Adair told lawyers she's reviewing the case file she took over earlier this month, and hopes to rule next week on a request to move trial to northern Nevada.

Prosecutors from the state attorney general's office remain on the case, although lawyers for Krolicki say they might still ask Adair to turn it over to a special prosecutor.

Krolicki saID he thinks it's important to get a swift resolution to the case.

Krolicki and his chief of staff, Kathryn Besser, are accused of mishandling millions of dollars in the Nevada College Savings Program. Both have denied wrongdoing.
