Bail remained at $100,000 cash for a 28-year-old Carson City man charged with pistol-whipping his girlfriend as she held her 2-year-old son.

East Fork Justice Jim EnEarl set a Sept. 2 hearing date for Santiago Alcarez Cossio Jr. and appointed lawyer Kris Brown to represent him.

He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse from a July 5 incident.

According to investigators, Cossio was arguing with his girlfriend at her Gardnerville Ranchos residence.

He allegedly put a pistol to her head, then pistol-whipped her and her 2-year-old son.

The woman had red marks on her head, and the little boy had a bump on his forehead.

The woman refused medical treatment.

Cossio fled the scene before deputies arrived and had been a fugitive until Douglas County sheriff's investigators arrested him Monday in Carson City.
