We're getting most of the smoke from the Big Meadow fire in Yosemite National Park. Smoke will continue to fill the Valley today. The fire is a prescribed burn that got away from National Park Service firefighters and has grown to 2,200 acres. According to the park service, fire managers saw that the holding lines weren't going to keep the fire in place, and it started to spot in snags and dead brush east of Foresta. The main road connecting Highway 140, which passes through the park from Lee Vining, to Yosemite Valley is closed.

Formal charges are supposed to be filed against Phillip Garrido and his wife, Nancy, who kidnapped Jaycee Lee Dugard 18 years ago and held her captive. The El Dorado County District Attorney said he would have charges ready by noon today.

The Nevada State Fair and carnival open today at noon for the general public. Today is seniors day and features bingo, free lunch, the first Nevada State Fair Silver Queen competition and a Wii bowling tournament. The fair is located at the Livestock Events Center in Reno.

It's going to be a blustery day. That will contribute to the high dropping a couple of degrees down to 89, but warm air will come back on Saturday. Expect winds of 10-15 mph today with gusts up to 25 mph, with similar patterns through the weekend.
