Man killed in fall from Heavenly chair life

A man was killed and a woman injured when they fell from the Tamarack Express Chair at Heavenly this afternoon.

According to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, the man and woman were riding the chair down the mountain when both fell off. The incident was reported at 2:08 p.m.

The woman was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital and is being treated for injuries she received in the fall.

According to Lt. Les Lovell, the man was pronounced dead at Heavenly's California Base Lodge First Aid Station.

This incident is being investigated by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office. Lovell said that the incident appears to be an accident.

Lovell said the names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Further information will follow as details of the event emerge.
