The granddaddy of Carson Valley holiday lighting ceremonies is tonight in Minden. The gazebo and town tree will be illuminated at 6 p.m. The Minden lighting isn't the only one this evening. Genoa will also be turning on the lights for Hope Falcke's tree in the middle of town. There'll be caroling in the town church before everyone walks across Nixon Street at 6 p.m. to turn on the tree.

The hearing against the woman implicated in the shooting deaths of Gardnerville soldier Staff Sgt. Timothy Miller and his wife Randi Miller, and the kidnapping of their baby girl, in March 2008 was completed Tuesday. According to the Fort Lewis public information officer, the results of the hearing are forwarded to Fort Lewis's commanding officer to determine charges against Ivette Davila. He could determine she should face the death penalty.

Today should be mostly sunny, with a high hitting 50 degrees. Tonight's low will go to 22 degrees. The National Weather Service is calling for a slight chance of rain or snow on Saturday night, but the real chance doesn't come until Sunday night and Monday. It's chilly out this morning at 16 degrees in Minden.
