CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Gov. Jim Gibbons plans to brief legislative leaders in advance of a news conference to outline what steps he is taking before determining whether a special session is needed to balance the books.
Gibbons spokesman Dan Burns says the governor and budget staff planned a telephone conference call Monday.
Gibbons has scheduled a news conference Tuesday to outline the state's revenue shortfall and spending.
Burns says no decision has been made on whether a special session is needed, or if cuts can be made to get through the next 18 months of the two-year budget cycle.
State revenues, dependent on tourism dollars and sales taxes, are about $60 million below projects made earlier by the Economic Forum.
