Staff Reports

The youth ministry of Freedom Church in Carson City will raise funds for its activities by selling Christmas trees, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Target shopping center on Highway 395 and Jack Valley Road.

The third annual LIFT Christmas tree lot is a nonprofit run by volunteers and is the biggest fundraiser for the church youth ministry. The goal of the LIFT outreach program is to feed the hungry and bless children of the community who are less fortunate.

Volunteers provide free gift bags for children who come to the tree lot, a photographer to take family photos, tree delivery service if needed, and free s'mores on Fridays. The lot is the site for collecting stockings and stocking-stuffers to be given to students at Empire Elementary School.

Other LIFT projects include a free gift-wrapping night 2-6 p.m. Saturday and a free Christmas dinner and movie at 7 p.m. Dec. 15 at Freedom Church, 3759 Highway 50 East, No. 209 in Carson City. There will be 200 Christmas stockings given to needy children in the community. More information at the church, 720-9158.
