EDITOR:
I was privileged to attend the ladies night last week along with perhaps 100 ladies. We had, without a doubt, a most wonderful experience with woodworking.
First of all, we were treated to an abundance of healthy food trays from sandwiches, meats and cheeses, to fruits, cookies, sodas and water. The food was beautifully displayed. We were guided through the making of three wooden Christmas trees for display. Then, to top off the evening, we were part of a drawing for door prizes. The gifts ranged from door wreaths, birdhouses, to large plush reindeer and Santa's. There was nothing under $20 in value. There was a prize for almost everyone in attendance. We were also presented with a Christmas stocking filled with various items as we left the store. The employees were extremely patient, kind, polite and very thoughtful as the group was of varied range in age and abilities. The employees were so helpful in assisting us with our projects and so patient with our shortcomings. They showed us how to embellish our projects in various ways to personalize them. The project was perfect for us ladies and for the season. I cannot imagine anyone left unhappy. It was also a special time for socializing and getting to know more of our neighbors.
Because of the economy, I had wondered if they would be able to sponsor another ladies night. They not only did, but also had a kids night earlier. I am happy to call them a part of our community as good neighbors and friends.
I know many hours of planning, preparation and clean-up went into making this event so successful. I am sure we would all agree it was most successful and we had another wonderful evening at Meeks. They have been doing this for several years. Don't know how you'll be able to top this one, but you always come up with something spectacular. Thanks for being there for our community in such a special way during this time of economic struggle. Another ray of sunshine.
