Santa at Tumbleweeds

The second annual pancake breakfast and photos with Santa is 7:30 -10 a.m. Saturday at Tumbleweeds Gymnastics Minden gym, 2231 Meridian Blvd. Unit 2, Minden. Pancake breakfast is $5, free for age 2 and younger. Photo with Santa is $5. Leave your children 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Drop 'n' Shop while you shop. Cost is $35 and includes lunch. A 10 percent sibling discount available. Raffles for gift baskets. The event is a fundraiser the Tumbleweeds Gymnastics Booster Club that helps with financial support for the 2009-10 boys' and girls' competitive teams. Information, 782-4496.


Book signing at Borders

Johnson Lane resident Soozie Lewis, author of "The Bloomingsons of the Nevada Sage, Haley Roo," will be featured in a book signing event, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, at Borders books on Topsy Lane. The book is set in 1967 Carson Valley, with events seen through the eyes of 16-year-old Lissy Bloomingson. "Haley Roo" is the first in Lewis' Bloomingsons saga, with the second novel, "Excuse My Buffalo," due out soon. Information at www.soozie-l.com


Senior Christmas party

Young at Heart's Christmas party is Saturday at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. Social hour at noon, food served at 1 p.m. Bring a gift of at least $5 if you want to play pirate gift exchange, male for male, female for female. Seniors only. Holiday fair Saturday

A holiday gift fair is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 1380 Stodick Lane, Gardnerville. Wares include jewelry, linens, art, stocking stuffers, designer clothing and Chanukah gifts. Storytelling presentation Saturday

Native Americans share music and stories of personal and ancestral significance, wisdom and humor during the StoryBox presentation, 2-4 p.m. Saturday, at the Stewart Indian School Administration Building No. 3, off Snyder Avenue in Carson City.
