The R-C Morning Report

I can't tell a single flake of snow has fallen in Carson Valley from the storm system that's pushing its way over the Sierra this morning. The radar shows a huge disturbance over the mountains in California, but it doesn't seem to be translating to our side, yet. If there is anything, it's focusing around Reno right now.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. today, so there's still the chance it will snow sometime this morning, but the real deal is the winter storm watch that will kick off Saturday afternoon.

There are road controls on all three routes across the Sierra, including chains or four-wheel drive required on Highway 88 and Interstate 80, and snow tires or chains required over Echo Summit. Down here, the Mount Rose Highway and Geiger Grade are requiring at least snow tires, and Highway 395 north of the Mount Rose junction is also requiring snow tires or chains.
