EDITOR:
Once again Carson Valley has shown its amazing generosity. This year's KTVN Channel 2 News Share Your Christmas Food Drive at the Carson Valley Inn brought in 76,156 pounds of food (2008 - 58,682 pounds) and $37,539.25 in monetary donations (2008 - $31,530). In a year that we were prepared to receive less, we received the most ever from you the people of our fantastic community.
We would especially like to thank the following for their sharing of resources, time and talents:
KTVN Channel 2 News and their onsite crew in front of and behind the cameras, Jeane Mulreany owner of the Carson Valley Inn, the Carson Valley Inn engineering and banquet departments (especially Gary Nix), Care Flight, Santa's helper Al Baumruck, the Food Closet Crafters, City National Bank, Jerry Evans (99.1 FM Talk Radio), Carson Valley United Methodist Church Carolers, Carson Valley United Methodist Church, Carson Valley Lions Club, Carson Valley Middle School Band, "POBOB" Motorcycle Club, Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School Steel Drum Band, Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley, Lira's Market, Town of Minden, Douglas High School Jazz Band, Carson Valley Sertoma Club, Douglas Disposal, Inc., Raley's (44,000 pounds plus), "Free to Fly" Christian Rock Band, Scolari's (very special support), Nevada Department of Corrections "Man Tracker Team," East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts, East Fork Fire & Paramedic Cadets, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Douglas County Sheriff's Mounted Posse, "Upward Bound" from UNR, Douglas High School National Honor Society, numerous other volunteers and Douglas High School Junior ROTC.
These are the people, businesses and organizations that physically made the food drive happen, but without the continued support of the people of the Carson Valley the Carson Valley Community Food Closet would not exist.
Our sincere and very heartfelt thanks to all.
