Gardnerville resident Becca Martin came home on Saturday for a six-week break before her next medical procedures.
The family attended the Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School production of Scrooge on Saturday and Sunday, where 11-year-old Becca was able to meet with her friends from the theater group.
According to her mother, writing on the CaringBridge Web site, Becca is talking, laughing and joking.
"She is getting better each day, but she still has a long road ahead of her."
Becca was hit by a car while crossing the street in Eagle Rock, Calif., on Aug. 13 while coming home from getting ice cream with her grandmother. She suffered a severe head injury in the accident and had been recovering in a California hospital.
Becca will be home schooled in the spring at her doctors' request. The family will be attending "High School Musical 2" at the Carson City Children's Museum Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
