OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Golden State coach Don Nelson is back on the bench after missing the Warriors' 5-game road trip while recovering from pneumonia.
Nelson, 69, joined the Warriors for their pregame shootaround before Wednesday's home game against San Antonio and said the time off definitely helped.
"All better, 100 percent," Nelson said. "A couple of days into the road trip I started feeling better, but it was good that I took the extra time (off)."
Nelson's main assistant, Keith Smart, coached the Warriors in Nelson's absence. Golden State went 1-4 on the trip.
Nelson previously missed five games after being diagnosed with pneumonia on Nov. 23. He returned before Golden State's Dec. 3 game against Houston but chose to skip the most recent road trip to continue his recovery.
