HONOLULU (AP) - Nevada coach Chris Ault says speedy running back Lampford Mark will start against Southern Methodist in Thursday's Hawaii Bowl.
The Wolf Pack, the first team in NCAA history with three 1,000-yard rushers in the same season, will be without their star running backs Vai Taua and Luke Lippincott. Taua, who led Nevada with 1,345 yards rushing, has been ruled academically ineligible. Lippincott, who ran for 1,034 yards, is sidelined with a toe injury.
That leaves quarterback Colin Kaepernick as the Wolf Pack's lone 1,000-yard rusher. He has rushed for 1,160 yards.
Mark has 44 carries for 286 yards and three touchdowns. The sophomore had 114 yards rushing against San Jose State.
Ault on Monday said freshman Mike Ball also will get some carries.
