EDITOR:
The Record-Courier's readers write about Obama's war, the economy disaster, the health plan, unemployment and America's national debt.
Two Gardnerville residents, Harold Johnson and Irene Gutierrez, wrote to The R-C about their thoughts. Johnson says, "Why not let the perennial troublemakers settle their own war conflicts?"
Gutierrez comments "now we are fighting two wars, have record deficits and the worst economic depression" since FDR days.
So what's with Obama's war? Didn't he promise to end it? No we are sending more troops to Afghanistan. I wonder what we will do if North Korea decides now is a good time to send a missile to the Western Coast of the U.S.?
And now we are even more in debt. What did they estimate - $30 billion? Maybe it was only $20? Whatever.
Re: the health plan, Dr. Richard Witzig wrote a great article about this monstrous plan. Minden resident John Delaney wisely noted "If this bill is so great how come Congress members are not first to sign up?"
Every American citizen should please note Congress not only gave themselves an annual automatic salary raise but they are rescued from any health plan reform. It is their privilege. Right?
All of this reeks of losing our liberty, our civil liberties, and ultimately our American way of life.
Fact - America is bankrupt. We have to print more and more funny money on a red ink press which seems to have an eternal life. We've got to stop spending.
And this health care reform, while needed, is not even mentioned as a congressional mandate and might be better designated to the states.
See Amendment XX, a slow step plan starting with tort reform which affects malpractice insurance, not to mention medical ethics of privacy.
What's the big rush? I think Rep. Dean Heller tried something like this but he didn't make first base against the know-it-all and do-it-their-way senators.
How many of them have been licensed to practice medicine?
Do the majority of Americans believe in sending more troops to war or think its OK to continue the killing and the billions in cost?
Now, I suggest Mr. Obama and his overeager congress of both Republicans and Democrats pay for it themselves.
Many of them are millionaires in their own right.
None of them seem worried about losing their jobs.
But maybe they should be.
I hope there will be constant ongoing series of demonstrations in all of the towns over America.
We Americans are giving our freedom away. We let them get away with it.
I don't know what action to take besides writing letters.
I wrote one-page letters to every senator to vote no on health care issue. Besides voting all incumbents out in the next election, we can hold demonstrations, tea parties.
Or how about a march on Washington like a passive Custer's last stand rebellion.
Think about it. How can we make Congress "hear" us?
